Seneca Place on the Commons

Cornell University’s Alumni Affairs and development Department as well as a portion of the Johnson School Administration serve as the anchor tenant for this new facility. Ciminelli Development Co. was selected by the University and the other constituency groups to be the developer for this corner site’s landmark project. Located in the heart of Downtown Ithaca, adjacent to the Ithaca Commons, this building project encompasses the integration of a nine story, mixed-use project comprised of Cornell’s Alumni Affairs and Development group, a 104 bed Hilton Garden Inn, retail, Food Service and a Conference Center serving Ithaca’s urban environment.

This 195,000 +/- square foot mixed-use project consist of 110,000 s.f. of office space, featuring a first floor accessory retail space which is integrated with the combined office/hotel lobby and recreation. The hotel occupies approximately 60,000 s.f. of the upper stories. Cornell University’s Allumni Affairs and Development Department and the Johnson School Administration will occupy 75,000 square feet of the floors two through four, and the fifth floor is designed for a multi-tenant with Smith Barney as the anchor tenant.

With the variety and complexity of the programmatic elements, our firm was selected to provide complete architectural design services including NYSERDA sustainable design principals to schematic design through construction administration for the complete building shell/envelope/core design, Cornell tenant design/buildout, site design and development and base design for the Hilton Garden Inn.
