As the result of an in depth review of program needs and a feasibility study to explore alternative solutions for upgrading the 1920’s building, the renovations and additions were constructed in several phases.
Oriented towards Union Street, the original church was built when many people walked. With the acquisition of the adjacent rear parcel on Main Street, much needed parking became possible, and freed up space to construct the much needed Narthex/Gathering Space. Adjoining the Gathering Space on the first level was the Church Offices and Library and conveniently located toilets. The second level became the middle school and high school educational area and toilets to serve the entire second level.
Phase II of the project rebuilt the previous office area and youth area. A much livelier suite of rooms was created for the baby fold through 3 -4 year olds. It was important to locate this age grouping on the first level for easy access and convenience of the preschool operation.
