As Moog’s actuator and controller products became larger and heavier, a facility was needed to facilitate assembling, testing, storing and shipping components requiring handling by craneways. As a result, an addition of 40,000 SF was constructed contiguous to the existing Industrial Group’s operations.
An 8 inch and 12 inch thick heavily reinforced concrete floor slab was built to support anticipated heavy machining equipment loads anywhere on the floor, without requiring special machine bases. Flexibility of arrangement is provided by in-slab electrical and data/communications conduits.
Taking advantage of the overall height of the space, an office mezzanine was located over the building support areas to house the engineering support staff.
